STEPHEN CATRON
Born and raised in Virginia, Stephen Catron first discovered a love for the arts while in college. As a theater major, he performed in college and community theater until he moved to New York City to attend the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Manhattan. Finding the big city tougher than expected, he moved to Audubon, NJ, his first wife's hometown. Living a suburban life, he continued in theater with local amateur groups, starting out as a actor and eventually directing adult and children's plays. He also wrote one acts that were staged. His daughter Arielle, 20, is attending Temple University.
Now living in Mendham, NJ with his second and present wife Karen and 9-year-old son Zachary, Steve has turned from theater to the visual arts. He enjoys working in collage and assemblage, and has found classes at the Visual Arts Center and Somerset Art Association that allow for artistic growth in new and exciting ways. His website is www.catronarts.com. |

ROSALIE STERN
Rosalie Stern loves color and spent 39 years of her life coloring hair. When her body told her it was time to get off her feet she couldn’t imagine a life without being able to express herself colorfully and creatively. In spite of severe dyslexia she decided to join the digital age. Registering at Raritan Valley Community College she majored in Multimedia Communication. Rosalie graduated in May 2002 with a 4.00 CUM. She was the class Valedictorian and was awarded the Certificate of Excellence for her major. She spent the next year taking advanced and independent studies of the major graphic software packages at Somerset County Technical Institute.
Now Rosalie is happily adding color to her world with the use of a mouse instead of a dye brush. She has two modes of artistic expression, digital and tradigital art. She combines her artistic ability with two very powerful software packages, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop, to create her digital art. The tradigital is done by creating a pen and ink image, scanning it into the computer and giving it a life of color using Adobe Photoshop. Her art is more than a way to express herself in color; it also speaks of joy, unity, holistic living, and just plain fun. Rosalie’s goal of adding color to the world hasn’t changed, just her medium has. See more of Rosalie’s work at www.shadesofrosalie.com |
