ARTISTIC MIX IN A NEW SPACE

Hackettstown, NJ - Eleven members of the Myhelan Artists Network (M.A.N.) are exhibiting their artwork in the newly relocated Arts Off Main Fine Arts Gallery, 128 Willow Grove Street, Hackettstown, December 2 through February 1.

To see the variety of mediums used, all are invited to the Opening Reception on Sunday, December 2 from 3:00-6:00 PM.  The artists will be present to discuss their work, all of which is for sale.

Long Valley artists include Judi Case, a horticulturalist who works in an array of painted media; Elmer Dey, a retired educator exhibiting his newer abstract watercolors; Lorraine Fedor, a sculptor this time exhibiting paintings; and Sher Weston Stec, a WNTI D.J. showing her color photography.

Mef Gannon (Port Murray), a singer-songwriter creates freeform fabric creations; Gail Mardfin (Bernardsville), a graphic designer paints stylized floral acrylics; and Rosalie Stern (Basking Ridge), who describes her work as “tradigital” because it starts as a traditional drawing and is manipulated in the computer application Adobe Photoshop.

Four artists will be showing their work for the first time with the M. A.N. group: Jennifer Dietrich (Long Valley), art teacher and former Myhelan Summer Art Bazaar director, exhibits stained glass pieces and small oil paintings; Marianne Trent (Chester) assembles mixed media wall pieces; Francie Hoyt (Lake Hiawatha) offers colorful compilations created on computer; and Rosemary Allen (Hackettstown) a floral designer paints abstractly in texturized acrylics.

The exhibiting artists are part of a larger group that meets monthly to share their work and learn from the experiences of others in a supportive forum. The ever-changing network has been meeting for ten years and is named after the Lenape word “myhelan” (pronounced mah HAY lon) meaning “a gathering together of peoples.”

More information is available online at www.MyhelanArtistsNetwork.org. Gallery hours are weekday afternoons 1:00–5:00.
